Liverpool In Print - An online bibliography of Liverpool's history

Project start date: 2006-10 Project end date: 2009-09
A major resource enhancement for the Liverpool Local Studies Collection at the Liverpool Record Office, Liverpool in Print will provide a new level of bibliographical resource, an accessible, comprehensive and indispensable finding aid for all researchers interested in Liverpool. Currently, use of the collection is limited as items can only be located in situ through the fragile sheaf catalogue. This contains an estimated 156,000 references and is comprised of an author catalogue and a subject index filed together in one alphabetical sequence, with many entries containing some descriptive annotation. Liverpool in Print will develop the catalogue into an online bibliography with considerable value-added components: it will include additional printed material on Liverpool held elsewhere, and will incorporate a number of reader guides and aids, including additional descriptive annotation of items and detailed bibliographical essays on key themes. The database will thus serve as the essential portal for all research into Liverpool.
