The Faculty of Criminology, Justice and Policy Studies is accepting applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the field of human rights and the law commencing July 1, 2010. The successful applicant will hold a PhD in any area pertaining to legal studies, including law and society, law and justice, or jurisprudence that is relevant to social science.
Candidates may have an active research agenda in any area related to legal studies, such as family law, labour and employment law, law and social policy, feminist legal studies, social welfare law, and access to justice. We are particularly interested in a candidate who can contribute to the establishment and growth of the Faculty’s Legal Studies program. The faculty member will be expected to: conduct research; teach undergraduate courses at all levels; provide student advisement; and participate fully in the life of the Faculty and the University.

The Faculty of Criminology, Justice and Policy Studies offers Honours Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication, Criminology and Justice Studies, Legal Studies, Public Policy, and a Masters of Arts (MA) in Criminology. The ability to teach core areas such as legal theory, diversity and law, law and social change, or women in conflict with the law would also be considered an asset.
