Reading & Reception Studies Seminar
Database Workshop
Dr John Bovey (University of Kent, Canterbury)
‘The RBAE Online Database: What does it provide now and how should it develop in the future?’
Dr Bovey will be demonstrating the new database for the Reception of British and Irish Authors in Europe Research Project, discussing its creation as an online bibliographic resource and assisting all who are interested in the European reception of British and Irish literature and ideas to make full use of what the database contains. He will also be eliciting feedback from participants about ways the database can be improved to meet their research needs.
The database contains the bibliographies of all 16 volumes published in the Series on the Reception of British and Irish Authors in Europe. There is a particular focus on translations and European critical response to the works of Jane Austen, Lord Byron, S. T. Coleridge, David Hume, Henry James, James Joyce, D. H. Lawrence, Ossian, Walter Pater, Walter Scott, P. B. Shelley, Lawrence Sterne, Jonathan Swift, H. G. Wells, Virginia Woolf and W. B. Yeats.
