Members of the digital preservation community are invited to join leading researchers and developers from the Planets project for their end of project conference in Berlin.

For the first time in the four-year project, the conference will bring together the entire Planets team alongside colleagues from outside of the consortium to reflect on what the project set out to achieve, the lessons learnt, the outputs of the project as well as looking to future directions in digital preservation.

This is also the first opportunity to hear from the follow-on organisation to Planets, the Open Planets Foundation (OPF). www.openplanetsfoundation.org. The OPF will build on the €15 million investment from the European Union and the Planets project consortium. It will co-ordinate further development of the Planets services, tools and technology by supporting and engaging the Planets Open Source community and seeking external funding for development projects. It will also provide technical support and training on Planets tools and services.

The conference will provide opportunities for networking, discussion, sharing ideas and best practice and to ask questions of the project team who actually designed and developed the Planets tools and services.
