event: Digitizing Correspondence Workshop

17/09/2009 - 10:00
17/09/2009 - 16:30

This workshop will bring together archivists, editors and researchers to explore issues relating to the digitization of letter collections.

Letter collections are fluid, as the correspondence between individuals intersects and interacts with others. Traditionally arranged biographically, digitization raises the possibility of greater thematic mapping of correspondence across collections. The dispersed nature of letter collections and their interconnectedness makes an integrated approach to their digitization desirable. It is the aim of this workshop to clarify the scholarly requirements of researchers and the concerns of archivists within a framework of creating more comprehensive, integrated and accessible collections of correspondence.
