The Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) project funded by the US National Science Foundation is looking to engage the services of a specialist in a Digital Humanities support role. Time: Tuesday, December 6, 5.15 pm GMT
The central theme of the seminar series, is how digital technologies have enabled researchers into the past to gain new insights, new views and new perspectives on their subject which would otherwise be missed. This presentation will discuss such technologies in the context of two major projects carried out by MOLA, and will consider how digital technologies have effected the capture, manipulation and presentation of various types of data concentrating on the spatial. The Network of Expert Centres is a collaboration of centres with expertise in digital arts and humanities research and scholarship, including practice-led research. This includes data creation, curation, preservation, management (including rights and legal issues), access and dissemination, and methodologies of data use and re-use. Its membership is open to all such centres in Great Britain and Ireland.

Reflectance Transformation Imaging of Inscriptions: a workshop at the
Manchester Museum; Wednesday 21st September, 10am - 4pm.
Dr George Bevan and Prof Daryn Lehoux (Queen's University, Canada) will
lead a workshop demonstrating the use of 'reflectance transformation
imaging' in the study of inscribed objects (on metal and stone). The
aim of the day is both to provide a general introduction to the
technique and its potential, and to provide opportunities for hands-on
