blog: Important news from arts-humanities.net
Dear Digital Artists and Humanists,
As some of you will be aware, the funding for the AHRC ICT Methods Network, as part of which the arts-humanities.net website was developed, ended March 2008. This does not mean that the project will disappear - in fact it means quite the opposite! The newly founded Centre for e-Research at King's College London, where I am now based, has received funding both from the AHRC and the JISC to further develop the project. This will allow us to continue improving the website and work with you to support the Digital Arts and Humanities.
We have already made some changes and improvements to the website, incorporating feedback from the community - more about this below. We are also working on long- and mid-term plans for further development. As part of this, we are joining forces with several other projects to integrate our content and services into one online resource. This will include materials from the Arts and Humanities e-Science Support Centre, the Arts and Humanities Data Service, the ICT Guides and the Methods Network.
As part of this development process, we would be very interested in hearing from you. What aspects of arts-humanities.net would you like to see improved? Do you like the user interface? Is there something we could develop that would make your life easier? Suggestions for the short- and long-term would be very much appreciated. If you have any ideas or if you would be happy for us to contact you later with more specific questions, please drop me an e-mail (torsten.reimer@kcl.ac.uk). Do not be afraid to be informal or very critical. We are here to build something for and with you!
Recent changes to the website:
- User interface: we have restructured the navigation menus and improved the overall design of the site; changes include new ways for searching and browsing content, for instance in the jobs section or the wiki
- User profiles: the profiles have been redesigned to help you present your interests and activities; as part of this, you can now find other members with similar interests simply by clicking on one of the keywords in the "Research Interests" field in the profile to find others who have used the same tag. You can of course still do a full text search via http://www.arts-humanities.net/site_user_list
- Events calendar: The calendar has been redesigned and expanded with a separate Call for Papers section. As with all other pages on our site, you can subscribe to the RSS feed and get information about new CfPs directly to your inbox

- News Hub: The News hub has been redesigned to make it easier for you to keep up to date with what happens in the wider community

- Bibliography: We have just launched the Digital Arts & Humanities bibliography. It is meant to be a general, introductory bibliography and a good starting point for further research. You can of course make suggestions for important publications that we may have missed. If there is interest from the community, we are open to expand the bibliography beyond it's current introductory scope. Let us know if is something that interests you.

Re: Important news from arts-humanities.net
Congratulations on your funding!
I'd be interested to see if there are points where the Digital Arts & Humanities and the UK Museums Computer Group could work together, to share resources or discussions, etc.

Hi Mia,
Good to hear from you! Yes, we would definitely be interested in this. I will drop you an email later so that we can start the discussion.
Best,
Torsten
