This report produced by JISC last year may be of interest. The reports findings are perhaps not that unexpected; it would be good to hear what others think (especially in terms of the reports methodology).
"As part of its development, the Pre-Raphaelite Resource digitisation project recently commissioned an audience research study to consult users about whether the inclusion of Web 2.0 features on a resource of this type would be useful or important to the education community". http://digitisation.jiscinvolve.org/2008/07/07/is-academia-r...
Re: Is academia ready for Web 2.0?
Hi Craig
Interesting article that tells us what we know - that most academics are still wary of web 2.0 or see little relevance of it in their research or teaching. I came across the new online Digital Defoe with a pertinent article by S.Alker on Defoe and Second Life that you might find useful see

Re: Is academia ready for Web 2.0?
Thanks a lot for the information - it's going to be very useful. I'm teaching a summer course on Portuguese Literature and Web2 - (http://literaturaportuguesaweb2.pbworks.com/) - with a module on SL, and will surely use your article and examples. Best regards
Helena
